Rejoice … {MVM}

I was so annoyed with my kids today. Well, I was annoyed with most everyone today. I had a to-do list that was a mile long and not enough day light. Have any of you ever felt like that?

I am even annoyed with myself right now. Look at how many times I wrote the word “I” in the first paragraph. Ugh…so self absorbed right now. Anyway, as I was preparing for MVM, which is a day late I might add {probably adding fuel to my annoyance fire} I looked up the word complain. Lately my kids have complained about everything. It drives me nuts and before long I find myself complaining.

Complain :: to express dissatisfaction

Here are some of the synonyms for the word complain … grumble, growl, whine

Not sure about growling, but grumbling and whining are certainly characteristics in this home. It is draining. It is depressing. And, it steals our joy. The antonym for complain, you ask?

REJOICE.

I am convicted.

Less complaining, more rejoicing.

Deuteronomy 12:7 “There, in the presence of the LORD your God, you and your families shall eat and shall rejoice in everything you have put your hand to, because the LORD your God has blessed you.” {NIV}

This is only a small part of the commitment the Israelites made to follow God. It was a commitment of love and grace toward a God that had extended so much love and grace on them.

Follow me … “In the presence of the Lord your God” which simply means when He is around. Um, He is always around.

Point #1 :: God is always around.

“You and your families shall eat and shall rejoice in everything you put your hand to” … so pretty much all of the time.

Point #2 :: All moments, other than when am sleeping, I should be rejoicing.

“Because the Lord your God has blessed you” …  He has blessed me.

Point #3 :: I have nothing to complain about.

Forgive me God.

And so friends, your verse for this week is Deuteronomy 12:7, “There, in the presence of the LORD your God, you and your families shall eat and shall rejoice in everything you have put your hand to, because the LORD your God has blessed you.”

Have a great week!

KC

    Wow! Thank you for the great verse. This hit home for me. I am so guilty of this as well. When my boys begin complaining I end up the one complaining just as much. And this morning I was annoyed with the entire family as we were trying to get ready for the day. What a terrible way to set the tone for the day. I too must say – Forgive me God.
